"Zuni-Style" Roasted 1/2 Chicken

kale, croutons, pine nuts, currants

  • No Egg Added
  • No-Antibiotic Poultry
A tribute to one of San Francisco's favorite signature dishes: Zuni Café's roast chicken with bread salad. A simply brined and roasted 1/2 chicken served with a baby kale salad featuring croutons, toasted pine nuts, and dried currants all tossed with sherry-shallot vinaigrette. Munchery sources poultry raised without antibiotics—it’s better for the birds and it’s better for you. We’re excited to feature poultry from Mary’s Chickens in this dish.

Excellent portion

Wow. Another absolute Miss. 12 pieces of wilted baby kale under the worst rotisserie chicken I've ever had. Under-seasoned, soggy skin, no flavor. Ended up tossing most of the meal
2 Stars
Bread salad inadequate: too small, not really enough bread, greens or dressing. Chicken dry and over cooked.

Chicken dry and greens wilted

The chicken was just ok - greasy. The salad was terrible! Dressing was terrible - too tart & bitter. Probably won't order this again.
3 Stars
We ordered two meals and they were not equal. One chicken was big, the other tiny.

More flavor needed on chicken

Need a separation between the kale and chicken. Salad was completely wilted.

Loves it! Quite close :)

The arugula was wilted and soggy, and there was very little of it. Not sure if it was supposed to be a salad or a garnish. However, the chicken was surprisingly moist.

We ordered 2. One was perfect and beautifully brown. The other looked raw even though it wasn't. The other was a horrible raw-yellow looking color. Somehow cooked differently.

This dish is as advertised -- very delicious!

Aptly named!

Bland

This chicken tasted really good. The dark meat was the best. However, the white meat was a little dry, but that could have been because of heating it in the microwave.

Chicken was absolutely delicious. Some reviewers mentioned this was nothing like Zuni's. But I think this is still a very nice piece of roasted half chicken, perhaps one of the best on munchery. Bigger salad would have been better.

It was too plain
3 Stars
I had this before and really liked it, it was a little bland this time.

Chicken was great. Lettuce was wilted and unappealing. I ate a homemade salad instead.

It really had no relation to Zuni chicken from that restaurant

Poseidon was very Bland and the portion size incredibly small we are very disappointed with it

Very generous portion. Perfect for an adult and 1-2 small children.

Tasted good but nothing like Zuni
4 Stars
Very tasty but not enough salad
3 Stars
The chicken was dry.
3 Stars
Not at all like Zuni chicken!
3 Stars
Not really comparable to Zuni's roast chicken, but then, you can't reheat chicken and expect it not to taste ... well, like dead meat. The dressing was nice. I ate the chicken cold. It was OK, nothing special.
5 Stars
Very good but lettuce was a bit wilted
5 Stars
Very generous portion of chicken. Enough for an adult and a child.
2 Stars
Chicken was good but the salad was tiny and it was not a salad after all, Will not order this again.
2 Stars
The salad was so small and the chicken was just ok
3 Stars
Taste is amazing. The portion size is WAY too small. The "salad" is a couple pieces of lettuce with 2-3 croutons. It was a garnish. Not a salad. The chicken is also too small. Almost looks like 1/2 a Cornish hen.
3 Stars
Salad next to chicken

Too simple.
