This classic Cuban dish is known as "ropa vieja," or “old clothes” in Spanish, which is really just a silly name for a delectable dish made of tender shredded beef served in a flavorful tomato sauce with peppers and olives. We add some black beans and steamed rice on the side to help sop up all that yummy sauce.

Just underwhelming.

The Ropa Vieja (shredded beef) should have more tomato sauce in it if you're trying to be authentic. The rice should be white or you can make moros to go with this dish. Been a Needs more garlic too. And the beans were dry.

Really need tortillas with this

Tasty but too salty. Way too many capers added to the problem.

The meat was a little too salty for me, with the olives, but good comfort food.

A little on the dry side
4 Stars
Great taste; beef was tender and well portioned; rice with beans were dry and not enough juice/sauce from the meat portion of the dish to alleviate the dryness, but all-in-all, a decent dish.

The rice and beans lacked flavor and the Cuban beef was tough and chewy.

Rice was dry. I ate it with tortillas and it was a good combo

Rice is underwhelming

Capers are too strong of a flavor. Can barely taste the beef.
2 Stars
Not a lot of flavor and there was no rich tomato broth with the meat
4 Stars
Delicious. Good portions. Very filling!

The beans and rice were good, but the beef looked nothing like the photo - it was an unappetizing mound of over-processed glop without much flavor. Perhaps if the beef had been shredded, per the photo, it would have been better.
5 Stars
So delicious and authentic! I had left overs for breakfast with s fried egg on top. Thanks for the addition.
3 Stars
Rice and beans very dry

Too salty. Capers seemed unnecessary. Aside from that pretty good. Beef was nice and tender.

teen loved this dish.

It seems the beans were thrown in as an afterthought, rather than being cooked with the rice. The meat was good but it was bland. It needed to be a little spicier.
5 Stars
Excellent. Would order this again!

This dish was delicious, and I enjoyed it--but not enough to put a reminder for the next time it was on the menu. Very tasty -- just seemed to be missing a "wow" factor.
3 Stars
The meat tasted strange .
5 Stars
Great flavor, ample portions. We ordered two but spooned the beef, rice and beans on corn tortillas with a little salsa, lettuce and sour cream and one serving was plenty. Leftovers for two lunches tomorrow! Not too spicy, just tender and flavorful
4 Stars
Good but the rice and beans were dry as to be expected when re heating
2 Stars
The beef was super greasy.

Rice to meat ratio is not balanced. Need more rice and/or beans.

Nicely seasoned and hearty.

So disappointing. Lacked salt, Extremely dry, Meat was not shredded properly. Tasted manufactured, I've had better from the frozen dinner aisle. The beans, while also a bit dry, were tasty and the only thing out of the whole dish that was edible.

Beef cold and

Mucho delicioso. One of Munchery's best. Please continue serving this dish.
2 Stars
It was pretty salty
5 Stars
Tasty & not 2 spicy...but mucho flavorful! The beef has been shredded and flavored with interesting spices/herbs while the rice & beans R plentiful (at last!!!) Great little dinner that can actually B split easily if neither are 2 hungry. A new fav.
3 Stars
Ropa vieja should be shredded and served with its braising liquid. The beef was so broken down it was delivered as a giant mass of macerated meat and no sauce.

The dish needs acidity, texture, and freshness. I added red wine vinegar and sriracha and would have added fresh vegetables had I had some in the fridge--such as the peppers, onions, olives, avocado and cilantro pictured. Disappointing.
3 Stars
A little pureed too wet
2 Stars
Very dry

Extremely salty! Need at least 80% sodium reduction. Very good rice though.
