This dish is made the "old school" way! The mac & cheese sauce is made with celery seeds, dry mustard, smoked paprika and lots of cheddar cheese. The sauce is combined with whole wheat penne, steamed broccoli and topped with lemon garlic bread crumbs.

Usually I am hooked by any combination of cheese and pasta, but this one just did not hit the spot. The broccoli was a touch undercooked, the cheese sauce had a sour flavor that wasn't pleasing, and the pasta was too soft. Overall this was a miss.

This was meh. It came off more thick-gluey than creamy, even though the pasta wasn't overdone. I think the problem was the sauce. There was a weird amost fishy aftertaste to it as well--only copious amounts of lemon juice made it edible.

This is carbohydrate overload with breadcrumbs on top of penne pasta and intact large broccoli flowers smothered in a thick cheddar cheese emulsion. Whole wheat penne contributes to the heaviness of the dish, or is it the milk, butter and cheese?

Not the healthiest meal, but a good sized and delicious serving of pasta. Will definitely fill you up.
