Both Chile and California's Central Valleys can get quite hot during the summer months. And both are home to numerous “sub-regions,” each with its own microclimate, which makes possible the growing of a wide array of grape varieties.
The Central Valley (El Valle Central) of Chile is one of the most important wine-producing areas in South America in terms of volume. It is also one of the largest wine regions, stretching from the Maipo Valley (just south of Santiago) to the southern end of the Maule Valley. This is a distance of almost 250 miles (400km) and covers a number of climate types.
A great food wine, this is a go-to, approachable, everyday pour to enjoy alongside everything from salads and creamy cheese to any white meat or fish you can think of or even, (no joke!) fresh fruit tart.
Intense golden yellow. Enticing aromas of ripe peach and pineapple. Fresh tropical flavors mingle with soft notes of oak. This is a beautiful medium-bodied Chardonnay.
