Chef Marco Lemus was born in Guatemala and always had an interest in cooking professionally. At first, not being able to see much future in it in his homeland, he decided to spend time studying engineering. After coming to the United States, he quickly realized that cooking was once again a possibility and returned to his first passion of food. Like many aspiring young cooks, he started at the bottom as a dishwasher and moved up the kitchen ladder, working every station from prep cook to eventually lead sous chef. His resumé includes noteworthy LA establishments such as the Porta Via, a classic Italian Bistro, The Shangri-la Hotel in Santa Monica, and the Standard Hotel downtown. He's very excited to have joined the Munchery team where he can contribute years of high-end professional experience as well as a few things he considers favorites from his native country.
