  • What is Munchery?

    Dinner can be a boring and often dreaded experience. You’re too busy to cook, don’t have time to shop, and you’re frankly out of ideas about what to make. Inevitably, you end up grabbing whatever is readily available (and often succumb to unhealthy choices), or find yourself eating the same thing at the same place again and again.

    Munchery allows you to order dinner prepared by our talented chefs. They use fresh ingredients for your meals (locally sustainable whenever possible). Each day, multiple chefs create delicious entrees and complement them with thoughtful sides. Meals are delivered directly to your home or office that same day. You save time and get an incredible meal that blows away traditional forms of takeout.

  • How does Munchery work?

    1. Browse menus that our chefs post for each day. There’s a different menu for each day of the week.
    2. Add items to your cart and checkout when you’re ready.
    3. You can purchase items across different days and chefs, all in the same order. You can order the same day, the next day, or even a few days out of the week. Meals are always made fresh daily.
    4. Payment is handled via credit card or PayPal. iOS users have the additional option of choosing Apple Pay. Tips for your driver can be added no matter how you pay.
    5. For delivery, choose a delivery window and our driver will send you a SMS shortly before they arrive. There is a small delivery charge depending on your location.
  • When & Where does Munchery deliver?

    Each region we service has a range of delivery windows that allow you to order a meal and get it the same day. No minimum orders are required and our drivers will text or call you a few minutes before they arrive. Most of our drivers can also be tracked on your Account page by clicking on “Track Today’s Delivery”. This way you can determine where your meals are and when you want to eat!

    Our drivers do their best to meet your desired delivery time. However, unpredictable traffic conditions and demand spikes may occasionally occur. You’ll be contacted if unforeseen circumstances will affect your delivery time.

    For Deliver Later orders, if you have already placed an order and want to add another menu item to your existing delivery, you can place an additional order for the same time, and your orders will be bundled and delivered once. The delivery charge will not be applied on the second order since it’s still one delivery.

  • Who are the Munchery chefs?

    Munchery’s team of chefs are local, professional chefs who come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Many have experience at well-regarded restaurants, while others have run their own catering businesses or worked as private chefs. All of our meals are prepared in certified commercial kitchens. Our goal is for you to always be 100% satisfied. If for any reason you're not happy with your meal, please do let us know.

  • Creating an Account

    To start, click on Sign Up in the upper right-hand corner of the Munchery page. You can sign up using Facebook or your email

    When signing up using Facebook, enter your login information as if you were logging in to the Facebook website

    When signing up with email, enter the information requested (first name, last name, ZIP code, email, and a password that is at least 8 characters long).

  • Sign Up for the Daily Menu Email

    Since our menus change daily, get fresh meal options in your inbox each day

    Do you have an account already? Then you’re automatically signed up for our Daily Menu email. You can adjust any email preferences, go to your Account page and select Email Preferences. You can adjust which days you would like the Daily Menu Email.

    Don’t have an account? You can still sign up for our Daily Menu email without having to create an account. On the Munchery homepage, below the large photo at the top, you can enter your email address and ZIP code. This will add you to our mailing list for Daily Menu emails.

  • Browsing the Daily Menu

    Click on Daily Menu at the top of your screen and you’ll be taken to our menu. Scroll down to see what the chefs are making for you today or an upcoming date.

    Across the menu page below the Munchery logo, you can select choices to view Main Dishes, Sides, Desserts, Kids, and Drinks. Or you can simply scroll down the page to view all menu choices.

    Filtering

    To filter options, click on the icon at the far right of the menu bar, next to Change City. This will give options to filter based on your dietary preferences including Dairy Free, Nut Free, and more.

    Detailed Information about a Menu Item

    To view a complete description of the dish, click on the item image. This page will give you more information about the dish including a list of ingredients, prep info for reheating (these instructions are also packaged with your order for delivery), and recent reviews for the dish. To return to the menu page, click on “Back to Menu” in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

    Notice the meal labels below each item. We have several such as Wheat-free, Nut-free, Dairy-free, Vegan, and Vegetarian. These labels will help guide you in choosing what meals fit your preferences and needs.

    Ordering

    Once you’ve made the decision of what you’re going to order, click on + (+Add) below your desired choice. This will place the item in your shopping cart, ready for checkout.

    Want to order on another day? Click on "Today’s Menu" on the left side of the menu page. Choose your desired delivery date in the drop down menu and you’ll be taken to the menu for what the chefs are preparing on that day. Proceed through checkout and you’ll receive your meals when you want them.

    Save yourself some time. There’s no need to place several separate orders if you want to get dinner for a few different days. You can compile and place an order for several days in a week all at once. Just select items from the Daily Menu page of each day you would like to receive your meals, add the items to your shopping cart, and proceed through checkout when you’re ready. We’ll handle the deliveries and you’ll get your meals on your desired days.

How to place an order on Munchery.

  • How do I order?

    The most popular way to order is online from our daily menu, currently available every weekday and on weekends in select areas. You can order that day and get it delivered the same day at a specified time of your choosing! All payment is done securely online.

    We also send out emails alerting you to the daily changing menu, as well as daily push notifications on our iOS app.

  • Canceling an order

    We know life is unpredictable, so we make it very flexible to cancel your order. Go to Your Orders page to cancel an item or the entire order. You can cancel as late as 10AM on the day of your delivery with no penalty. Refunds can take up to 3 days before they are reflected on your credit card or PayPal account. If you miss the deadline, you can contact us and we will do our best to help you.

  • Change Your Delivery Time

    Under your Account page you can request a delivery time change up. Depending on how along we are in processing your order, we will do our best to accommodate any changes.

  • Adding or removing from an order

    You can cancel as late as 10AM on the day of your delivery with no penalty. Refunds can take up to 3 days before they are reflected on your credit card or PayPal account. If you miss the deadline, you can contact us and we will do our best to help you.

    Cancel an Individual Item

    • Go to your Account page and click on the Your Orders button. All upcoming deliveries are broken down by day on this page.
    • To the right of the order you’d like to cancel, underneath Order Details, click on the Change This Order button.
    • On the right side of the page underneath Cancel Individual Items, change the item quantity to 0 for each meal you would like to cancel.
    • Our system will issue a refund to your card for these items and delivery fees. Refunds can take up to 3 days

    Add an Item to your Order

    • Want to add a different item instead? Just place a new order for the additional items and be sure to choose the same delivery window - our system will automatically bundle all of your orders for a particular delivery day and you will not be charged a second delivery fee.
  • Can I add more meals to a placed order?

    Place a new order with the additional meals you’d like for that day and your orders will be bundled together into one delivery. You will not be charged twice for delivery.

  • Ordering for multiple days

    Click on “Today’s Menu” on the left side of the menu page. Choose your desired delivery date in the drop down menu and you’ll be taken to the menu for what the chefs are preparing on that day. Proceed through checkout and you’ll receive your meals when you want them.

  • Can I make special requests to my meal?

    Sorry, we do not allow special requests at this time.

  • Does my order include sales tax?

    If an item is subject to sales tax in your state to which the order is delivered, tax is generally calculated on the total selling price of each individual item. In accordance with state tax laws, the total selling price of an item will generally include delivery charges and discounts.

    The amount of tax charged on your order will depend upon many factors including the type of item purchased and your delivery address. Factors can change between the time you place an order and the time of credit card charge authorization, which could affect the calculation of sales taxes. The amount appearing on your order as Estimated Tax may differ from the sales taxes ultimately charged.

  • What are the meals like?

    Our chefs use the freshest, seasonal ingredients in their meals. Often, they will source their ingredients from local, sustainable farms. You can easily know what’s going into your meal by going to the meal description and clicking on the various ingredients and sources.

    Unlike a traditional restaurant with a fixed menu, our chefs’ menus are constantly changing, which gives you great variety and seasonality. More selection means that you’ll never get bored with our offerings.

    The type of food varies greatly by the chefs and their available menus. Some chefs focus on specific cuisines, such as New American, Italian, or Thai. While others may only produce vegetarian meals. A typical meal consists of multiple items including an entrée and one or more side dishes. Each meal contains one adult portion (approximately 12-16 oz).

  • What are the portions like?

  • What if I have a food allergy?

    If you have a sensitive food allergy, we recommend that you closely read the menu description as well as ingredient list before ordering. Please note that meals are prepared in a kitchen whose environment contains nuts, wheat, dairy, etc. Though best practices are used when preparing the meal, inadvertent cross-contamination may occur.

  • Do you offer Vegetarian, Vegan, and Wheat-Free options?

    Meals are tagged with an orange label marking them as vegan, vegetarian, wheat-free, nut-free, dairy-free, etc. Look for these tags to determine ingredients and allergy restrictions. Please note that meals are prepared in a kitchen whose environment contains nuts, wheat, dairy, etc. Though best practices are used when preparing the meal, inadvertent cross-contamination may occur.

  • Do you provide a list of ingredients and nutritional info behind each meal?

    Ingredients are listed as part of the information for each menu item. On our menu, click on an item, and click the Ingredients tab (hint: you can also press 3 to jump to the tab).

    Meals are labeled as vegetarian and wheat-free to help you order according to your preferences.

    We provide calorie information on the meals, and we are working hard to make full nutritional information available for all our meals.

  • How can I track my nutrition with Jawbone UP?

    Munchery has integrated with the Jawbone UP app to provide detailed nutritional tracking. Whenever you have a meal delivered, information about your meal and its nutritional data is automatically sent to your Jawbone UP that you can track on your UP feed. You must own a Jawbone UP band in order to the UP app.

    To connect Munchery with your Jawbone UP:

    1. Launch your Jawbone UP app (available on iOS and Android)
    2. Go to the Apps screen under your Settings.
    3. Find Munchery within the App Gallery, tap the '+' icon, and then tap 'connect.'
    4. You will be redirected to the Munchery website where you can either sign in or create an account. You will also be prompted for permissions by the Jawbone UP app, which you should allow.
    5. Once Munchery is connected, nutritional data is automatically sent to your UP app whenever you have a meal delivered.

  • What time do I need to order by?

    Our order cutoff times depend on your location. Enter your ZIP code at the top of this page to find out when you need to order for same-day delivery.

  • How much does delivery cost?

    Use the form at the top of this page to calculate the delivery to your area.

  • Changing your delivery time

    Under your Account page you can request a delivery time change up. Depending on how along we are in processing your order, we will do our best to accommodate any changes.

  • Do I need to be home?

    No, you don’t have to be home, you can have your order left on your door step or at the front desk by choosing the option during checkout. If you have special drop-off instructions (like leaving your order in a cooler), please let us know in the Special Delivery Instructions field during checkout.

    You can also place a cooler outside your home for us to drop-off your delivery. We’ll place your meals inside the cooler.

    For deliveries containing alcoholic beverages, drop-off is not available. You must be present with a valid ID to receive your delivery.

    Once your order has been dropped off, you will receive a text or phone call notifying you of the delivery.

    Requirements for Cooler Drop-off

    • You must provide a cooler measuring at least 12"(w) x 12"(l) x 10"(h), and be in good condition with a tight seal (see example). If you order 4+ meals, we suggest a larger cooler. Place this cooler in a safe, secure, and shaded location.
    • We strongly recommend placing 1-2 ice or cool packs in the cooler as well. A well-sealed cooler can maintain a safe temperature for over a day.
    • Print this Munchery Cooler label and attach it to the outside of your cooler.
    • If you do not have a cooler, you can add a Munchery-provided cooler to your cart for a one-time charge and re-use in the future. There are no returns or refunds for coolers.
    • You must be present with valid ID to receive orders containing alcoholic beverages.
    • It’s your responsibility to ensure a safe and secure location for your cooler.
  • How do I handle gratuity for the delivery?

    Gratuity is completely optional. In fact, our delivery drivers do not expect a gratuity. However, if you would like to extend a tip, you can do so with either cash upon delivery, or specify an amount during the checkout process. In fact, Munchery takes it a step further by only awarding credit card and PayPal tips to drivers in a lump sum. The individual gratuity amounts are never disclosed before or after your delivery. This ensures a consistent level of superb service for all our valued customers.

  • Does the chef deliver my food?

    Our chefs do not handle delivery of your food. Instead, we have a dedicated delivery team to handle all of the logistics of getting you your food. They’ll even send you a SMS before they arrive. You can also order across multiple chefs and have the convenience of a single delivery.

  • Can I do pickup instead of delivery?

    Unfortunately we do not offer pickup at this time.

  • How do I have food delivered to my friend?

    If you want to send food to a friend. Follow these simple steps:

    • You need to be logged in with your account or sign up first
    • Add items in your cart and checkout as normal
    • On the checkout page, provide your friend’s name and address under the Delivery Info
    • Under the Payment Method section, provide your own payment information. We just need to know your billing ZIP.
    • Choose your delivery time and place the order

    You can always place multiple orders for different deliveries for the same day all under your account.

  • Can I deliver to places other than a home?

    Do you want to send Munchery to a friend’s home or to your office? Not a problem. Simply put the desired location of delivery into the address field. Please enter who the meals are being delivered to under delivery instructions. Just remember to change the address back before your next order.

  • How can I get Munchery Plus?

    Munchery Plus is no longer available as a membership program for new customers. Existing members of the Munchery Plus program will continue to enjoy the free delivery benefits until their subscription expires. We look forward to providing a similar membership/loyalty program in the future.

  • Where is On-Demand Delivery available?

    This is available in selected neighborhoods our service areas. Enter your ZIP code at the top of the Help Page to see if you're within the coverage area.

    You can still plan ahead by scheduling a delivery for a 1-hour delivery window that same day. We're working to add more ZIP codes for On-Demand Delivery in the near future.

  • How do I order with On-Demand Delivery?

    Order between 4-8pm and select "Deliver Now" during checkout. We’ll provide an estimate on when you’ll receive your order (typically between 20-40 minutes).

    If you’d like to plan ahead, select "Deliver Later" during checkout before your designated cut-off time (enter your ZIP code at the top of this page to check cutoff times for your area).

  • On-Demand Delivery Restrictions

    Once placed, on-demand delivery orders are considered final. If you would like to order an additional menu item, you must place a second order (additional delivery charges may apply).

The Plaid Box Cooking Kits

  • What is The Plaid Box?

    The Plaid Box contains dinner cooking kits shipped each week directly to you.

  • What comes in each delivery?

    You can choose between a box with two or three dinner cooking kits; each kit serves two people. Kits contain ingredients and instructions to make a delicious dinner for two in about 15 minutes.

  • What do I need at home?

    A basic kitchen equipped with pots, pans, bowls, and a sharp knife will do it. We typically provide you with everything you need except for salt, pepper, and oil. Every dish includes a recipe card (also available online) that shows what staples and specific cookware you’ll need.

  • When will my box arrive?

    You choose a day of the week. Your box should arrive by 9pm on the delivery day you’ve chosen. If you’re having any issues with your delivery, please contact our Customer Care team.

  • How do meals stay fresh during transit?

    We carefully pack The Plaid Box with food-grade ice packs to keep everything chilled and fresh until you unpack it (when you do, we recommend you put the cooking kits in the refrigerator).

  • What if I’m not home during delivery?

    The Plaid Box will be left where your deliveries are normally left. You can add special delivery instructions if you’d like it dropped off in a particular location. The ingredients will stay chilled and fresh even if you arrive home later that evening.

  • How long do my cooking kits stay fresh?

    Our cooking kits are created to stay fresh for 3 to 4 days after you receive your box. We suggest cooking fish or seafood kits first.

  • Can I choose my own meals?

    Yes! We select meals based on the preferences you set, but you can always swap those meals for other available items by editing your order in your .

  • Do you offer vegetarian options?

    We do! When you sign up for The Plaid Box, select the vegetarian option (currently only available for the 2 dinner kit box).

  • How do I skip a delivery?

    Skipping a delivery is easy: go to your and click “Skip this order” on the delivery you’d like to skip.

  • Can I recycle my box and packaging?

    Yes! All kit bags, ingredient bags, recipe cards, insulated liners, and shipping boxes can be recycled. The freezable gel packs are reusable; once emptied they are also recyclable.

    The Plaid Box: 100% recyclable. Break down the box and add to your curbside bin.

    Liner / Insulation: 100% recyclable PET #1. There are no adhesives, PVC papers or contaminants incorporated.

    Gel Packs: Reusable and recyclable. The packs are water-soluble, non-toxic, and non-hazardous. If you’d like to recycle, clip the corner, discard the gel in the trash, and recycle the plastic pouch (plastic #4 accepted at many grocery stores, if not your curbside bin).

    Our Plaid Bags and Ingredient Bags: Recyclable (plastic #4 accepted at many grocery stores, if not your curbside bin).

    Deli-Style Containers: Reusable and recyclable.

Preparing Your Meals

Heating's easy but here are some helpful tips.

  • Why is the food cold?

    No, we didn’t leave it in a snowbank, and no, it wasn’t frozen.

    By chilling our food after we cook it and keeping it chilled until it gets to you, we don’t just keep it fresh, we gain more control over how much it gets cooked. We can deliver perfectly done salmon. Our steak doesn’t dry out and turn gray as it sits in a warm container on its ride to you. We sidestep around the whole question of mushy pasta or soggy broccoli. Best of all, we can offer a crispy cabbage slaw with our fish tacos, knowing every element will arrive at its best.

    In figuring out the best way to deliver the most delicious and varied food possible, we also created a system that gives people the greatest flexibility. People in the same house can easily eat freshly heated meals at different times. It’s a no-brainer to order an extra dish for lunch the next day (or even tomorrow’s dinner). And if your plans change, you can just pop everything in the fridge to have later.

  • How do I prepare my meals?

    Dishes are fully cooked, chilled for maximum freshness, and served in oven and microwave-safe containers for easy heating in less than ten minutes.

  • Are containers microwave and/or oven safe?

    Our entree tray is both microwave and oven safe, as it is made from renewable bamboo and sugarcane fiber (it’s also 100% compostable and biodegradable). Remove the plastic lid (made from recycled plastic bottles) before reheating. Some of our larger offerings are packaged in recycled paperboard containers which are microwave safe and are recyclable.

  • How long does prep take?

    Reheating typically takes no more than 5 minutes, depending on the individual meal and your choice of microwave or oven heating. Cooking times may vary with your particular kitchen appliances. Heat the meals until at your desired temperature.

  • How long can I keep a Munchery meal in the refrigerator?

    Meals typically last about 1-3 days as long as they are kept in the refrigerator. Stews and braises can last up to 3 days while leafy salads are best enjoyed within a day.

  • Recycle & composting guidelines

    Munchery puts sustainable packaging at its core of our eco-friendly experience.

    Our entree trays are tree-free, made from renewable bamboo and sugarcane fiber, and are 100% compostable and biodegradable! Entree lids are made from recycled plastic bottles. The sleeves that protect your entree trays are made of 100% recycled paperboard.

Promo Codes

How to redeem promo codes.

  • Do I have to use an entire promo credit at once?

    No, you do not need to use all of the code’s value in a single order. Any remaining balance will be left as credit on your Munchery account, to be used towards any future order. Unlike many other websites your Munchery credits never expire!

  • Can I combine two promo codes?

    Unfortunately, our promotions are for new customers only (eg., first-time orders) and cannot be combined with other promo codes. Typically, only one deal can be purchased per customer. We work closely with deal sites like Groupon or Living Social to ensure they provide the terms of the deal in a clear manner on their site (we won’t tolerate fine print either). If you accidentally purchased more than one deal, please contact the deal site for a refund or perhaps give the deal code as a gift to someone else. If you’re still having issues, email support and provide us your deal code. Deal requests like these are handled on a case-by-case basis.

  • Redeeming daily deals like Groupon and LivingSocial?

    During the checkout process, there is a link "Have a promotional or deal code?" (it’s right after you’re asked for your delivery address information). Just paste your promotion code and continue to payment. Your cart will reflect that your promotion has been successfully applied. If you are experiencing any problems with your code, please email us

Gift Cards

How to purchase and redeem gift cards.

  • Can I purchase a gift card for someone?

    Absolutely, go to our Gift Cards page. Gift cards are perfect for new parents, or just about any special occasion. The gift card is sent in a digital format via email. A link to redeem it is included in the email. You can also provide the gift card code during checkout.

  • Do gift cards expire?

    Our gift cards never expire. After making an order with a gift card, any remaining balance is applied to the account as credit.

  • How do I redeem my gift card?

    In order to redeem your gift card, you will first need to have an account on Munchery. If you have an account, go to the Redeem Gift Card page to apply the gift card as credit on your account.

Membership

Munchery Membership offers everyday prices on menu items

  • What is Munchery Membership?

    Munchery Membership offers everyday prices on menu items (dinners start at under $10 per person!)

    We offer two flexible Membership plans: monthly and annual. Membership fee is $8.95 per month or $85 per year. If you sign up for the annual plan, you will notice that you save about 20% on the membership fee compared to the monthly plan!

  • How does the 30-day free trial work?

    Your first 30 days of membership are part of a free trial. Unless you cancel your membership prior to the end of the 30 days, your payment method will be charged on the selected recurring basis (monthly or annually) for the Membership Fee (plus any applicable taxes and other charges) until you cancel your membership.

    If you’d like to cancel, just email cancellations@munchery.com.

  • What if I want to change my membership from monthly billing to a year or vice versa?

    All you need to do is reach out to our Customer Care team and we’d love to help you switch plans.

  • Do I need to be home for delivery?

    No! During checkout, select “Drop-off” for your delivery instructions and we’ll leave your order for you. We recommend that you leave a cooler near your door so that your food stays fresh until you’re home. If you’re not home when we arrive and you did not select Drop-off, we may need to delay your delivery if you have alcohol in your order otherwise we will send you a text message or call you for instructions.

  • How do I reset my password?

    1. Click here and enter your email.
    2. You will be sent an email which will contain a link to reset your password.

  • How do I unsubscribe from the Daily Menu Email?

    There are two ways to unsubscribe.

    1. At the bottom of our daily menu email, click on the unsubscribe button to no longer receive the daily menu email.
    2. Go to your Account page and select Email Preferences. You can opt out of other types of emails such as general announcements.

    You can also set specific days to receive the Daily Menu Email. Even though you don’t receive this email, you will still maintain your Munchery account.

  • Is this site secure for my credit card?
